Tips On Positioning Your Internet Business To Profit By Blondie L. Clayton So you want to have a web site? Everyone is asking: "Do you have a web site? What's your web address?" You probably are feeling the pressure, especially, if you have been in business for a while and you're doing okay. Trends are changing. Who wants to get caught up in changing times? The Internet is here to stay. Whether you are ready to jump on board or not, is up to you. Its time to stop scratching your head, and feeling like you are not in the loop. The reason you aren't quite convinced this is the way to go: you can't see how it could enhance what you are doing. You are not alone. You are looking to make the connection: how can your already successful business benefit from the Internet; what would be the advantage of investing in a web site? Having a web site allows you to position your business without the expense of expanding via a physical location, where you pay rent, have employees, more headaches, etc. How about some food for thought: suppose you owned a bookstore, where you not only had books but other specialty items. Using the Internet, you could host a birthday club; charge your present customers a yearly fee to notify them of at least five people they want to do something special for their birthday or anniversary. Those customers have the option then of being notified, pre-paying for the gift and sending that new customer to the web, or into your store to pick up their gift. Or the purchasing customer can set a pre-arranged amount, and that customers can select from the many gifts in that gift range online. Mean time, you are providing a service for an additional $15.00, lets say, a year extra profits just from the web site. Now, you are getting new customers by way of old customers, which may become regulars online, or at your store. Customers need a reason to visit your web site. They want to visit your web site. You can even offer discounts for certain web merchandise. In addition, why not link to book affiliates and get paid for books they carry which you don't. Doesn't that get you excited? Making money when your store is closed, or you are sleeping? What is to stop a doctor from linking to affiliate pharmaceutical plans, get paid up to 25% for referring online customers from his web site? If you are a professional, you can write and post articles, or offer online consulting, or counseling. For example, if you are a tax consultant, you might locate an affiliate who has books on financial matters and post on your web, make a percentage off of each sale. Employers may host yearly employee incentive programs, where family and friends have to visit your web site to vote for their relative or friend. Meantime, you've got pre-selected information, or merchandise, etc. there for them to browse through. Building a web site for profit requires blending marketing strategies, links, information and traditional marketing approaches. Assess ways your business can diversify using the web. Once you have decided what you are going to use, the promotion begins. Have your promotional materials prepared and work your plan. Blondie L.
